Nifty vs Trello: which one, briefly
Choose Trello if your team needs a shared board of cards and little else; choose Nifty if you need milestones, dependencies, time tracking and client access around those cards. Trello Standard is $5 per user per month billed annually, or $6 billed monthly, and Premium is $10 or $12.50. Nifty Pro is $10 per member per month billed annually, or $16 monthly, with a flat option of $79 (annual) or $99 (monthly) for up to 10 members. Prices are in US dollars as read on 3 October 2026 on each vendor's pricing page.
The products differ in scope more than in quality. Trello's plans are built around boards, cards, automation commands and Power-Ups. Nifty's plans bundle tasks with a milestone roadmap, discussions, docs, files and chat.

What 5 and 10 people pay
Our arithmetic on annual billing, before tax:
- 5 people. Trello Standard: 5 x $5 = $25 a month. Trello Premium: 5 x $10 = $50. Nifty Pro per member: 5 x $10 = $50.
- 10 people. Trello Standard: $50 a month. Trello Premium: $100. Nifty flat Pro: $79.
So Trello Standard is the cheapest option at both sizes. The comparison changes once you need a timeline or calendar view: that means Trello Premium, which matches Nifty Pro at five people and costs more than Nifty's flat plan at ten. The full Nifty breakdown is on the pricing page.
What Nifty has that Trello lacks, and the reverse
Nifty only: milestones whose progress updates as tied tasks are completed, task and milestone dependencies on every plan, native time tracking with timesheet export from Pro, and built-in docs and team chat. Trello's pricing page lists none of these as plan features; it points to Power-Ups for connecting other tools and notes that some partner Power-Ups carry their own fee.
Trello only: automation on the free plan, a personal Inbox that captures to-dos from email, Slack and Teams, a Map view, and a library of more than 200 Power-Ups. Its free tier also allows 10 boards where Nifty Free allows 2 projects.
Who should stay on Trello and who should move
- Stay on Trello if the work is a flow of independent cards, one board per team is enough, and nobody asks when the whole project will finish.
- Move to Nifty if cards now depend on each other, clients need a limited view, hours are billed, or status lives in a separate chat tool that new owners cannot search.
- Consider a spreadsheet if you have fewer than a dozen open items. See sheet, board or project tool.
A team that wants the simplest possible paid tool should also read simple project management software.
Importing Trello boards into Nifty
Nifty's help center describes two routes. You can create new Nifty projects from Trello boards, one project per board, or import a board into the Tasks screen of an existing project through its Share menu.
- Open Import Project in the Nifty workspace menu, choose Trello and log in to Trello.
- Select the boards to import.
- Match Trello users to Nifty members, or invite them.
- Choose whether to bring archived tasks and board files, then start.
The listed data is boards, task lists, tasks, assignees, descriptions, attachments, creation dates, subtasks, comments and due dates. Trello automation commands, Power-Up data and custom fields are not on the list. Keep the Trello boards until someone other than the importer has completed a task in Nifty from the imported record alone.
